They reach sexual maturity in one year. Females usually lay two skinny eggs of size 2x1cm monthly, that they bury in the substrate. In our cage serves as a nest place an nestbox (10x10x7cm) filled with moisten turf. When you dig out the eggs, make sure not to rotate with them. A lengthy breeding season stresses the females and may shorten their life.
For incubation, we use highly moisten perlite, some rather use vermiculite, turf or ceramic substrate. Young ones come out after 55-80 days of incubation at the temperature 22-28°C, and measure 7-8 cm.
We raise them separetly in 3-liter jars with thin branches and paper towel on the bottom. We feed and regularly spray them every day. At first they eat 3-4mm long crickets and fruit pap. A hatching, a majority of juveniles are murrey coloured. Within four months they discolour to their future look. Babies might be kept separetly until they reach sexual maturity.
